People decisions shape every organization.

I help leaders make wiser ones.

You're leading through something complicated and human: a transition, a team that isn't working, a room where you're being read before you speak, a decision that feels heavier than it should. What's missing is rarely another opinion. It's someone who helps you see what's actually happening, clearly enough to trust your own next move. Not a session you book and forget, but a thinking partner who knows the whole picture, and is still there when the next hard thing comes: a decision, a change, a season you didn't see coming.

You're the expert in your field. I'm an expert in what every field shares.

what i do

Clearer judgment in complicated human situations.

Most leaders already have the books, the podcasts, the models, and the advice. Information is rarely what's missing. The harder thing is trusting your own read of the situation in front of you.

Under pressure, even the strongest leaders tend to reach for what someone else would do rather than what this specific moment requires. They lean on the one thing they do well and lose sight of the rest. They perform instead of pausing to think through the situation and the people affected by it. They carry it alone when they most need to bring others in. Not because they lack ability, but because acting on your own conviction, in your own voice, can feel like the riskiest thing in the room.

21_edited.jpg

That's the work I do with you. We slow the situation down and think it through together, from the strategy to the people to your own judgment. Then you can lead from your own instinct, instead of borrowing someone else's.

I bring more than fifteen years across human resources, leadership, communications, education, coaching, and consulting to the conversation. But knowing your business better than you isn't the point. You're the expert there. What I bring is the part every hard problem has in common, the human one: the judgment to see clearly, the clarity to act, and the character to hold what your expertise has earned. That layer isn't specific to any field, which is exactly why I can bring it to yours. It's how I see the whole picture, ask the sharper questions, and bring real expertise where it counts. The clarity you reach is your own, and so are the decisions.

the approach • ocaa thinking system™

When you are inside a situation, it is hard to see it clearly.

The problem is rarely effort or information. Human complexity pulls you so close that you start reacting to your read of what's happening instead of what's actually there. You repeat the same patterns. You brace against the same fears. You hold it all yourself, because bringing others in feels like losing your grip on it.

OCAA is how you interrupt that.

It gives you back enough distance to see the whole situation. The people. The pressures. The story you've been telling yourself about all of it. From there, you can respond on purpose instead of on reflex. Not the version of you that performs under pressure. The one who leads.

O

OBSERVE

interrupts ASSUMPTION

  • YOU MIGHT HEAR YOURSELF SAY

"I can't tell what is really going on here."

Most of what traps you is not the situation itself, but the meaning you assign it before you looked twice.

  • YOU MIGHT HEAR YOURSELF SAY

"Everyone wants something different, and I'm reacting to all of it."

The space between what happens and how you respond is where your leadership actually lives.

A

ADAPT

interrupts rigidity

ADAPT

  • YOU MIGHT HEAR YOURSELF SAY

"I made a call, but things have shifted and I feel stuck in it."

Holding a decision loosely is not weakness. It is how you stay accurate as reality changes.

A

ADVANCE

interrupts RESIGNATION

  • YOU MIGHT HEAR YOURSELF SAY

"I know what to do, but something in me keeps holding back."

That something is usually what you believe about yourself. The step you take anyway is what proves that belief wrong.

SEE OCAA IN PRACTICE: When your old strengths stop working You earned the bigger role by delivering, so you assume that's what got you here: your output, your effort, your willingness to shoulder the load. You keep doing exactly that, only harder. You take on more, tighten your grip, and push through, even as your team waits on you and the work backs up behind you. The assumption feels safe. It's also the problem. The harder you push, the more it slips. That is where the work begins. Together we observe what's actually happening: the job changed, and the strength you're proudest of, being the one who holds it all, is now the thing in your way. From there you choose to build the conditions where your team can take real ownership, instead of routing everything through you. As you adapt, you start listening for what you'd been stepping over, and you find capability you hadn't seen. You advance by letting the work move through your team, which costs you the identity of being the one who does it all, and that is exactly the growth. The next time what works stops working, you'll see it coming.

SEE OCAA IN PRACTICE: When a board isn't functioning as one A board hires an executive director to lead the organization, then meets, works its agenda, and adjourns. What it never does is the harder work: deciding how it will govern, how it will be honest with each other, how it will speak to that leader with one voice. It never becomes a team. And the cost shows up everywhere: in a strained relationship with the director, in decisions no one really owns, in an organization that feels the drift. That is where the work begins. I help the board do what it has been avoiding: look at itself first. Together we observe the harder truth, that the dysfunction is the board's own, a group of individuals sharing a table, not a body that governs. The board chooses to become a team before it evaluates anyone else. As we bring honesty into the room, and the director into real dialogue instead of monologue, the board adapts and starts to act as one. It advances by governing with a single voice, and finally gives the organization the leadership it was built to provide, now with a way of working it can return to on its own.

Every time you ADVANCE instead of reverting, you prove you are not defined by yesterday's version of yourself. This belief has a name: Designed, Not Defined®.

Why i do this

The work underneath the work.

Here is something I've learned, in my own life and in the room with every leader I work with: you are usually the last person to see your own value clearly.

You can read the situation in front of you, the people, the politics, the strategy, and still miss the one thing that would change everything: a clear, steady sense of what you bring and why it matters. Others often see it before you do. But it doesn't become power until you can see it for yourself.

That is the work underneath the work, and it's why my own path matters here.

designed, not defined®

Your history is not your fixed identity.

You have been told what you are. You have decided what you are. Across your title, your past, your mistakes, your hardest seasons, those judgments feel fixed because you have run them so many times they have become automatic. Repeat any thought long enough and it starts to feel like fact. But automatic is not permanent.

What repetition built, deliberate practice can rebuild. This is mental fitness, and it works like physical training: notice the old pattern, choose a different response, and run it until the new one takes over.

what leaders see now

Mari helped me identify gaps and blind spots in how I was stepping into my role and supported me in addressing them with clarity, intention, and courage.

RAHKIAH BROWN • CEO, SOUTH CITY FOUNDATION

Mari didn't just hear what was said, but also what was left unsaid, enabling her to address unspoken needs and concerns within our team.

ONOME EMORE • COO, HOPEWORKS

Being able to identify some of the causes of my struggles was one of the most valuable parts of the experience.

RON JULEAU • DIRECTOR, SECURITAS

Mari helped me identify blind spots I couldn't see on my own, find real clarity, and gain peace.
